    ASSOCIATED CHARITY EVENTS

Associated charity events are special events organised by charitable organisations proudly supported by Miss Commonwealth  through publicity on the pageant's websites.

EVENT on 7th December 2008:

All are invited to a beautiful Christmas carol singing evening.

The Sri Lanka Christian Association invites you to its 22nd Annual Christmas Carol Service on Sunday 7th December 2008 at 6:30pm at the Kensington United Reformed Church at Allen Street, London W8, which is just off High Street Kensington W8.

The Sri Lanka Christian Association (SLCA) is a charity with a wide range of humanitarian projects. The charity has educated many children giving them a better future. It has dedicated itself to 22 years of humanitarian work hosting very unique and diverse fundraising events bringing people together to help those who go hungry, ill, disabled and unloved, etc. The charity's Brail library is enjoyed by thousands of blind people of all faiths, creed, classes of society and nationality.

The Christmas carol evening is an opportunity for generous members of the local and the wider community to learn more about the charity and make donations to the charity's humanitarian fund which helps to deliver many of the charity's projects including the following:-

  • Feed 50, 000 families, the Aged, Orphans and the Sick
  • New Projects - A poultry farm for 6 families affected by the Tsunami and sufferers of Leprosy
  • "Our Fathers home" - a home for mentally handicapped men and women
  • Support Home for boys with learning difficulties
  • Projects to help Cancer Families, Leprosy families, Drug Victims and their families, the Blind, scholarships for university students, and support orphanages.
  • Gifts, stationary and school books to thousands of orphaned children.
  • Contribution of support to over 20 charities in Sri Lanka.

For more about the Christmas carol, see the flyer below, and read on....

                                  Your Generosity...

---Your generosity will go a long way to help SLCA put a smile on the faces of disadvantaged and orphaned children this Christmas.

Your donations will help SLCA transfer abandoned orphans from a life of hunger, disease and sickness in filthy slums to  comfortable existence in decent homes, and to feed, clothe, nurse, and provide general care and attention to them.

Donations help SLCA to give the children education, the only way to free them from their generational poverty cycle and change their lives for the better.
